Qualified as Solicitor 1987
Since qualifying James Ruttledge has handled a wide variety of personal injury cases for both claimants and defendants. These include both County Court and High Court cases of varying complexity. These have included claims against employers for spinal and soft tissue injuries, lacerations, noise induced deafness and exposure to asbestos. His experience has included road traffic claims, including classic rear-end shunts, collisions at junctions and running down claims brought by pedestrians. He has also handled fatal claims and has appeared at inquests.
His work has also encompassed public liability claims brought against the Highway Authority for defects in the pavement and carriageway. In addition, he has brought cases against occupiers for dangerous premises and land. His experience in litigation has included taking cases to trial and subsequently, where necessary, to appeal.
Claims pursued against the employers include cases arising from defective or unsuitable equipment and unsafe practices. These include not just physical injury but also psychiatric damage. The claims pursued against occupiers also include claims brought by tenants and their visitors against landlords for failure to repair and defective premises, including areas outside the immediate confines of rented property. James has also acted for injured claimants arising from injuries sustained whilst abroad on holiday and has conducted litigation in foreign jurisdictions.
His combined experience over 25 years has covered virtually every aspect of personal injury litigation and at all levels. Consequently, he is confident to provide you with an effective service and to support you throughout the claims litigation process.”
