Louise Baker, Solicitor
Louise qualified as a Solicitor with a firm in London before moving to Manchester where she specialised in litigation and in particular personal injury and employment work. She returned home to Somerset and since 1999 she has worked for Harris Fowler specialising in personal injury claims.
Louise works on a variety of types of cases including for clients who have sustained serious head and spinal injuries. She has particular expertise in working for military clients who have been injured whilst serving, acting for a number of clients who have sustained cold weather injuries and has developed considerable expertise in this area.
What inspired you to get into law?
Louise was first inspired to get into law because she wanted a career which was challenging but also satisfying. She enjoys problem solving and also wanted to do a job which meant she could help other people.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
Louise finds the most rewarding aspect of her job to be working with clients who have been injured and using her legal expertise to enable them to receive the help and treatment they need.
What do you do for fun?
Outside of work Louise enjoys all sport, in particular running and tennis as well as reading, travel and spending time with her family.
Louise successfully settled a case before Trial for a client with cold weather injuries. The client received £185,000 in compensation. Louise also settled a case for a former soldier who sustained a significant ankle injury, recovering compensation of £355,000 and for another former soldier who sustained a significant right leg injury which resulted in a below the knee amputation for whom she recovered compensation of £1.5m.
