Zoe Wilmot, Chartered Legal Executive
Zoe joined Harris Fowler in in 2007 and her role initially was as a Junior Fee Earner working on lower value, fast track claims.
She is now a Fellow in the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives and takes on a wider range of cases of higher complexity covering a broad range of personal injury claims including accidents at work, accidents on a public footpath, accidents on someone else’s property, landlord/tenant claims, product liability claims, dog attacks and claims through the CICA (Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority).
What inspired you to get into law?
Zoe was inspired to begin her qualification as a Chartered Legal Executive following a position she held at a previous firm of care experts. They were involved in catastrophic head and spinal injury cases and she witnessed how compensation allowed Claimants to have their homes adapted, have the care they required and get the support they needed to move forward with their lives. She wanted to be more involved and understand the process, hence why she started her qualification.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
Zoe feels the most rewarding aspect of her job is winning the more difficult and complex claims and achieving compensation for deserving clients so that they can try and move on with their lives.
What do you do for fun?
In her spare time Zoe loves to run, weight train/go to the gym and enjoys down time with her family.
Two notable cases in which Zoe has been successful relate to an accident on a public highway where the client suffered a significant injury to the shoulder. Despite some difficulties with the issue of liability by the Defendant, she secured an admission along with compensation of £15,000 for the client.
Another of her successes included representing a client who had been injured at work. There was a dispute over the circumstances surrounding the accident and the client conduct, but Zoe was able to use her experience and expertise to secure an award of £12,000 compensation for the client.
Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (FCILEx).
