Natalie secured £150,000 for the family of a woman who tragically died after emergency symptoms were incorrectly assessed as a trapped nerve rather than a cardiac event.
Tap to read moreNatalie represented the family of a woman who sadly died following a cardiac arrest after her symptoms were misdiagnosed by a First Responder.
The deceased experienced chest pain at home, prompting her husband to call 999. A First Responder attended and concluded that her symptoms were likely caused by a trapped nerve, advising her to rest and arrange an appointment with her GP the following morning.
Despite continuing to feel unwell overnight, the deceased contacted her GP the next day. Tragically, before she could attend her appointment, she collapsed at home. Her husband immediately commenced CPR while an ambulance was called. She was transported to hospital but sadly passed away.
Following investigations, liability was admitted by the Ambulance Trust. Natalie successfully pursued the claim on behalf of the family, securing a settlement of £150,000 in recognition of the failings in her emergency medical assessment and treatment.
Claim type: Medical Negligence
Natalie obtained £560,000 compensation for a claimant who suffered lasting cognitive and psychological injuries after a brain haemorrhage was not diagnosed during his initial hospital attendance.
Tap to read moreNatalie represented a claimant who suffered significant long-term injuries following a delayed diagnosis of a subarachnoid haemorrhage.
While at work, the claimant experienced a sudden thunderclap headache, dizziness and collapse. His GP immediately arranged for an ambulance and he was transferred directly to hospital for assessment.
Despite concerns that the claimant may have been suffering from a brain haemorrhage, alternative diagnoses including migraine and viral meningitis were considered. The claimant was provided with pain relief and discharged without the correct diagnosis being made.
His condition failed to improve and, several days later, he experienced severe dizziness and was readmitted to hospital. Further investigations confirmed that he had suffered a subarachnoid haemorrhage.
As a result of the delay in diagnosis and treatment, the claimant endured a prolonged recovery and was left with lasting cognitive difficulties and an organic personality disorder, significantly impacting his daily life.
Natalie successfully pursued a medical negligence claim on his behalf, securing a settlement of £560,000 to reflect the serious and life-changing consequences of the delayed diagnosis.
