Initial Discharge and Rehabilitation Case Managers

If you have been involved in a serious injury to your spine, early treatment and intervention is often critical. It is important to contact us as soon as possible so that, where appropriate, we can ensure on discharge from hospital that the support structures for both you and your family will be in place to aid your recovery.

The fastest rate of recovery occurs in the first six months of a spinal injury, so it is vital that you contact us as soon as possible to ensure that we can identify what treatment you will need. We may appoint a rehabilitation case manager if appropriate to carry out an immediate needs assessment. They will help you assess your most urgent needs, help you develop a co-ordinated and detailed plan of action to set achievable goals and  assist us to obtain the resources necessary to aid your recovery.

In addition they may also act as your advocate at multi-disciplinary meetings and help co-ordinate the multiple physicians that may be assisting with your recovery, such as physical therapists, occupational therapists, rehabilitation nurses, psychologists, social workers and any appropriate spinal specialists. They will ensure each physician is communicating effectively with the others to allow you to focus on your recovery knowing you are getting the best treatment possible.

Treatment Costs

In order, to obtain treatment, we will usually ask for interim payments from the at fault party to enable us to make arrangements on a private basis. This is to avoid the potential delay that obtaining treatment through the NHS may cause.

Equipment and Technology
